Dog Potty Training
4 March 2007Training a dog is the most important aspect of dog ownership, even if your companion can be the cause why you decide to buy a new carpet. Here are some ideas you can use when potty training your dog:
1. Schedule the day
Feed your doggie 3-5 times a day at scheduled mealtime. This will form a natural eliminating cycle. Do not give water before your pet is going to bed if you do not want to go outside in the middle of the night. Your dog needs to go potting after every nap the nap, as well.
2. Differences
Boys learn easier than girls, because they like exploring the outer world more and cannot get enough of it! There is a tip you do not have to forget: clean up any traces you find after your dog. Its sense of smell is very strong and it encourages it to go in the same place again.
3. Praises
Praise your dog every time it does the right thing.
4. Magic words
You must use the same praises repeatedly when telling your dog where it is supposed to do its business. Your dog must hear these words during the training process, not after it. For example, "go potty" is a signal that your dog must go outside.
5. Warning signals
Here are some warning signals that your dog is going to do:
- Sniffing around;
- A sudden desire to run away;
6. Training seminars
You can also attend dog-training seminars where you can get precious dog information.
7. Punishment
Do not punish your puppy for doing wrong. It is your fault if you do not take your dog to the poop area as frequently as he needs to go. Your dog is like a kid - many of the lessons that your dog learns in its earlier weeks of training will be remembered later and build its personality.

Thanks for this information. It’s amazing the number of people who give up their dogs because they are unsuccessful in getting them housebroken! Mary
